Program in Occupational Therapy

How Is the Annual Fund Used?

100 percent of the Occupational Therapy Annual Fund gifts go to the Occupational Therapy scholarship fund. Support of the Annual Fund allows OT students opportunities they otherwise might not have: a chance to work in a lab under top faculty or time to volunteer locally and internationally. The Annual Fund helps to make the OT program the best in the nation – and that allows all the students and faculty to make a difference in society.

Why Is It Important?

The Annual Fund directly affects current and future students in the OT program because 100 percent of Annual Fund gifts go to scholarships. Currently, more than 90 percent of students in the OT Program are in need of financial aid in order to attend Washington University. Gifts to the Annual Fund keep Washington University the #1 OT program in the nation. Annual giving is used as a recruiting tool with prospective students because it shows confidence and satisfaction in the education alumni received at Washington University. 100 percent of incoming students receive an offer of scholarship assistance from the program, so every entering student will know how much he or she is wanted at Washington University School of Medicine.

Message from the Director

“Thank you for your sustained commitment to our success and the success of our students. Your support underwrites the achievements of the OT program, and now the need is greater than ever. Your generosity will provide scholarship support; more than 90 percent of students in the OT program are in need of financial aid in order to attend Washington University. Your gift would help to make their aspirations possible.”

Every gift to the Occupational Therapy Annual Fund goes to scholarships. Alumni can make a gift to two types of scholarships: annual scholarships and endowed scholarships.

The Annual Scholarship program offers donors the opportunity to sponsor a named scholarship on an annual basis. Your scholarship may be named in honor of yourself, a friend or a family member, or in memory of a loved one. We encourage donors to pledge to renew their annual scholarships each year for a two- to four-year term.

Endowed scholarships help ensure that resources for scholarships will always be available. A portion of the endowment earnings is reinvested each year to help the principal grow and provide an ever-increasing income. Larger endowments increase the support available for each student.

Give back.  Give to the future.
